Galliprant (grapiprant) 60mg flavored tablets offer a targeted approach to managing osteoarthritis pain and inflammation in dogs. As a first-in-class non-COX inhibiting NSAID, Galliprant specifically blocks the EP4 receptor, which is primarily responsible for mediating pain and inflammation in canine osteoarthritis. This targeted action allows for effective pain relief while minimizing impact on gastrointestinal, kidney, and liver functions. The recommended dosage is 0.9 mg per pound (2 mg/kg) of body weight, administered once daily. For example, a 60-pound (27.3 kg) dog would require a 60mg tablet daily. The flavored tablets are palatable and can be given with or without food. Regular veterinary consultations are essential to monitor the dog's response to treatment and adjust dosing as necessary. Common side effects may include vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and tiredness.
