Zenrelia™ (ilunocitinib) 8.5 mg tablets offer an innovative approach to managing pruritus associated with allergic and atopic dermatitis in dogs aged 12 months and older. As a JAK inhibitor, Zenrelia works by blocking cytokines responsible for inflammation and itching, thereby interrupting the itch-scratch cycle. Administered orally once daily, with or without food, at a dosage of 0.6–0.8 mg/kg, Zenrelia provides rapid relief, with visible improvement often observed within one day. The medication is suitable for both short-term and long-term maintenance therapy. Common side effects may include vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. It's important to note that Zenrelia should not be used in dogs less than 12 months of age or those with serious infections. Additionally, dogs should be up to date on vaccinations prior to starting Zenrelia, as the medication may interfere with vaccine efficacy.
